For the third year in a row, The Royal Canadian Legion, Joe Wynne Branch #51 in Edson, is offering a Bursary for local students graduating from High School. The bursary is in memory of long time Edson resident and Legion Life Member, Mr. Floyd Olsen. Mr. Olsen dedicated his life to the service of his Country in WWII and to the community of Edson, holding community service and volunteering in extremely high regard. These attributes are the pillars of what makes a community like Edson as successful as it is, and it is with this in mind that the $1000.00 bursary will be awarded to the successful student who can submits a minimum 500 word essay on how they meet the following criteria: 1. Where do you plan on going to school? - what courses do you want to take and why? (confirmed attendance at a recognized post-secondary institution will be accomplished by a letter from your school's registrar once acceptance to the post-secondary institution has been finalized) 2. How have you demonstrated leadership during your school career? 3. How have you demonstrated community involvement? 4. How will winning this bursary assist you and your family with your financial plans for continued education? 5. What are your long-term goals and aspirations? 6. What are your plans for continued involvement in your community?
Deadline for Essay submission is June 15, 2010 at 3 PM. Essays can submitted to the Edson Legion, to the attention of: Donations Chairman Joe Wynne Branch #51 Edson, Alberta
